The K‑12 Teachers Alliance (KTA) exists to support teachers in advancing their careers and strengthening their impact in the classroom. For more than 20 years, we have helped over 200,000 educators nationwide find affordable graduate degrees and certification programs that align with their professional goals and busy schedules.
We work closely with school districts and universities nationwide to identify high-quality programs relevant to today’s educators. By understanding your specific needs—whether it’s a certification, master’s degree, or specialized endorsement—we help connect you with programs that fit your timeline, preferred format, and budget.
The K-12 Teachers Alliance is dedicated to meeting the needs of teachers, principals, and children they serve.
How Does Our Cohort Program Work?
Join Cohort List
Tell us the program you are interested in. We identify 20 teachers looking for the same program and work with Alliance-approved universities to determine the best program, at the most competitive price, with the best format and completion time.
Decide if it's Right for You
Once the group is confirmed, we’ll contact you with all the details including the university provider, price, format and start date. You can decide if it’s the right fit for you.
Reserve Your Seat
Due to the popularity of KTA programs and limited seats available, we have a seat reservation process to assure you a place in the group, while you go through the admissions process.
Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose a KTA program?
Finding the right university program can take hours of research. At KTA, we’ve done the heavy lifting for you by vetting every provider for quality, accessibility, and popularity. By leveraging our 20+ years of experience building teacher cohorts across the country, we negotiate directly with universities to secure competitive tuition discounts that aren’t available to the general public. We use the power of your group to ensure you get the best education at the lowest possible price.
When will I find out the University provider for my cohort?
Once we reach 20 interested students, we contact our Alliance-approved Florida universities to secure the best program details. As soon as the provider confirms the start date and tuition, we will notify you via phone, email, and text.
This confirmation typically occurs 2 to 3 months before the program begins, giving you ample time for admissions and financial aid. While popular programs often move faster, others may take longer to reach the 20-student minimum. Regardless of the pace, we will provide you with status updates twice a week about the status of your group as we near the required 20-student minimum.
What will the program cost?
As part of an Alliance cohort, we negotiate with the best university provider to find the best program at the most competitive price. Tuition varies based on factors like the university type (public vs. private), program popularity, delivery format, completion time, and possible practicum requirements.
KTA is dedicated to partnering with high-quality institutions that prioritize affordability. Once a university confirms the cohort, we will share all tuition and program costs so you can decide if it’s the right fit for you.
Does joining a cohort list guarantee me a place in the cohort?
No, joining the list simply ensures you receive updates as the group forms and is accepted by a university provider. Once the program details are finalized and shared, we will provide a seat reservation process to secure your spot while you complete admissions.
Since many groups fill to capacity, we offer this simple reservation step for those ready to commit to the program.
Does KTA charge a fee for access to the Alliance cohorts?
No, there is no charge for teachers or districts to join KTA cohorts; we provide this resource completely free of charge. Instead, KTA collects an administrative fee directly from our approved university providers. Students are only responsible for the tuition and fees required by the university for their specific program.
When can I start the application process?
While the specific university provider is still being finalized, you can start gathering your application documents now. Our Application Steps page lists common requirements, which (depending on the university) typically includes a copy of your teaching license, two to three recommendations, and a writing sample.
We recommend waiting for specific essay prompts and directions, but you can prepare your other materials and complete the Indication of Interest Form. This form helps us provide the university with the detailed group information needed to move the cohort forward.
Are Financial Aid or payment plans available?
Yes, all Alliance-approved universities are fully SACS-accredited and eligible for federal financial aid. We specifically select partners that offer flexible payment plans to ensure affordability.
You can complete your FAFSA and begin the financial aid process today, there’s no need to wait for a specific university to be named. Once the provider is confirmed, you simply add that institution to your FAFSA report.
