What You Learn

The program is designed to provide individuals with an opportunity to acquire knowledge and practical experience to become highly qualified teachers in the area of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages.

How You Learn

Online: This is an online cohort program. Students will check in online to complete assignments and participate in online discussions and group activities. While there are no face-to-face requirements, some live online sessions and/or conference call sessions may be required. Students will finish two courses every 15 weeks.

Career Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will earn a Master of Education degree in Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL) Education and be eligible for English Second Language supplemental certification in the state of Texas.


Candidates for this program will be experienced teachers, and will teach in a Texas Education Agency approved English as a Second Language program for one year. If not already certified in ESL, in addition to the coursework outlined below, have taught two years in a TEA accredited public/private school which is documented by a copy of a valid service record. This two year requirement is not needed prior to entrance to the program. For certification, candidates must achieve a satisfactory level of performance on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) in the area of ESL Supplemental.
