What You Learn

The program is designed to provide individuals with an opportunity to acquire knowledge and practical experience to become highly qualified teachers in the area of Bilingual and Dual Language Education.

How You Learn

Online: This is an online cohort program. Students will check in online to complete assignments and participate in online discussions and group activities. While there are no face-to-face requirements, some live online sessions and/or conference call sessions may be required. Students will finish two courses every 15 weeks.

Career Outcomes

Upon completion of the program, students will earn a Master of Education degree in Bilingual/Dual Language Education and be eligible for Bilingual and / or ESL supplemental certification in the state of Texas if not already certified.


Candidates for this program will be experienced teachers. If not already certified in Bilingual Education, in addition to the coursework outlined below, candidates must achieve a satisfactory level of performance on BTLPT Spanish language proficiency examination and have taught two years in an accredited public or private school. This two year requirement is not needed prior to entrance to the program. For certification, candidates must achieve a satisfactory level of performance on the Texas Examination of Educator Standards (TExES) in the area of Bilingual Supplemental or ESL Supplemental.
