Applicants interested in pursuing a position as an Athletic Director may consider the Athletic Administrator Concentration to accompany his/her administrator license. The Athletic Administration Certificate will prepare leaders seeking an Athletic Director position. Courses will focus on educational administration knowledge, leadership skills and the vast expectations of athletic directors to meet the challenges of K-12 athletic programs in all school settings. This certification is intended to be an additional certification to compliment a building (Principal #5051) or district (Director of Instruction #5010) administrative license.

Candidates are required to hold (or eligible to hold) a current Wisconsin Administrator license.

What You Learn

This 15-credit concentration is in partnership with the National Interscholastic Athletics Administrators Association (NIAAA). This fully online area of emphasis includes curriculum from NIAAA Leadership Training Courses (LTC 502, 503, 504, 506, 511) necessary for the RAA and CAA certifications. Topics within this curriculum will include: Leadership in Interscholastic Athletic Administration, Interscholastic Sport Organization and Administration, Fundraising and Development and Facility Management. Courses are practitioner orientated and taught by professionals with backgrounds in sport management and interscholastic athletic administration. Credits earned in this concentration can be applied to the Master’s degree.  

How You Learn

This program is designed to be completed in conjunction with the educational administration program and couples well with the principal licensure program. All courses will be delivered online in a collaborative format. Courses are 8 weeks in length.
