What You Learn
Nearly 35 million children in the United States have experienced at least one traumatic event in their life. Furthermore, one in four school age students has been traumatized to a degree that adversely affects academic achievement. Traumatized youth are in classrooms every day. This program engages professionals to proactively access, reflect and respond to student needs through a trauma-informed and trauma sensitive lens. Educators learn to think from a perspective of what student behavior may be telling them and respond with strategies, support systems and resources to positively impact student success in their classrooms, organizations, and agencies.
How You Learn
This is an asynchronous online cohort program. Students will participate in activities through the online learning management system (Blackboard Collaborate Ultra) which may include assignments, weekly discussion boards, and/or collaborate in virtual small group activities. Students complete one course every 8 weeks. This program is designed for professionals in education with a supportive cohort learning model.
At completion of the program as outlined below, you will earn a Master of Arts in Education with an emphasis in Trauma and Resilience in Educational Settings.
Additionally, there is an option to complete the five core Trauma and Resilience courses and earn a certificate in Trauma and Resilience.
